Ona Oshen is a policy strategist and executive leader whose work bridges law, technology, and global governance. She is the founder of Responsible AI Africa, Africa’s premier knowledge hub and community platform for artificial intelligence (AI). Her leadership in AI policy includes serving as Lead of the Security Cluster during the early development of Nigeria’s proposed National AI Policy, and later contributing to the creation of the country’s National AI Strategy.
Her career spans New York, Toronto, Lagos, Abuja, and Johannesburg, reflecting a global perspective and versatility across sectors. Ona has held roles at leading institutions, including Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP and PwC, and has consulted with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She is also the CEO and Principal Consultant of OneRose Consulting, a strategy and advisory firm operating in Canada and Nigeria.
She is licensed to practice law in New York, Nigeria, and Ontario, and is fluent in English and French. Ona holds law degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand and an MPhil in Management from the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School. She is currently a SSHRC Fellow at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, where her doctoral research engages with questions at the intersection of AI and international law.
